(Update) Photomanipulation Secret Santa 2014UPDATE: To give more people an opportunity to join, the new and final deadline to sign up will be December 1st.If you can spread the word, it will be highly appreciated. - - - - - - - - - -It seemed like many were interested, so here it is! What is a "Secret Santa"? "...a Western Christmas tradition in which members of a group or community are randomly assigned a person to whom they anonymously give a gift." (Wikipedia definition, so I didn't botch it ) However, in this particular event, you will be personally sending your gift to your assigned person, so you're only anonymous up until then. The only media being used is photomanipulation. All skill levels are welcome. As always, all stock must be legitimate (nothing from Google images, etc.) To enter, please send a note (no comments on this journal will be accepted). Make sure to include themes, colors, genres, etc. that you enjoy. P
Bringing back birthday featuresWaaay back in 2008, I started compiling a list of deviants' birthdays to keep track of who to feature at the end of each month.I'd like to start doing it again. To keep better tabs on things, I will just start a whole new list. The idea is to feature deviants at the end of their birth month, as a gift so to speak. So... if you're interested in being involved, simply comment with the month you were born in (no date needed). The features will begin on October 31st.
Flash Manip Challenge 02 - EmotionAnd here are the winners:First place:Second place:Thank you! You've heard of flash mobs, right? Large groups of people that meet in public places and perform in some way for a short amount of time, then disperse and act as if nothing happened, leaving everyone else surprised and confused? I figured I'd try to incorporate something like that into a short challenge. You will be given a theme. The idea is to quickly piece together a manip based on that theme. Because the time limit to complete it will be short, technical skill will not be heavily judged. There will be more of these challenges, but they will not be on a set schedule. Like a flash mob, they're meant to surprise you and keep you on your toes. Guidelines for Challenge 2Theme: Emotion: choose one emotion to portray (anger, sadness, etc.)Time limit: 3 days (due by 11

Artwork AdviceHiya. I've been working on a manip for the past day, and I'd love advice on where to take it if someone has any.http://sta.sh/0z1kc24k3jbThe lighting isn't 100% done, but I just want to know if anything should be added or fixed. It was originally going to be half day half night, but I couldn't find a good way to have a clean division between the two. So I stuck with night.Thank you for any and all assistance.

We thank her for being a guardian of artistic erotica and especially, for being able to answer every question we get asked about Pokémon and just about anything else for that matter. The world has changed over the last few decades in a very big way, but some are apparently unaware of it or undisturbed by the stunning ramifications.Advanced sur

10 Tips to Improve your Digital ArtA while ago I posted some tips on how to improve your art. While that article was rather general, this one is an addition to it, focusing on digital drawing and painting – so make sure to read both. It's made for beginners, so it's just really basic stuff. I hope it's helpful!:iconCutebow1plz::iconCutebow2plz::iconCutebow1plz:1. Get a tabletOf course there are artists who create beautiful pictures with a mouse, but trust me, drawing with a graphics tablet is more natural and a lot easier once you're used to it.Tablets have one big advantage over mouses: Pen pressure. Depending on how hard you press the line gets thicker and darker or thinner and lighter, similar to a real pen on real paper. I'd recommend getting a small, cheap Wacom tablet to start out. Also make sure your tablet always has the newest drivers installed! You can download them on the Wacom website.More information about tablets
Collection: GlassesShare|ArchiveGlassesIt would seem counter-intuitive that a person wearing glasses—i.e., a person in need of a device to properly identify and understand incoming visual perceptual information—would be assumed to be more rather than less intellectually gifted. And yet that’s the transformative power of donning a pair of glasses, the thicker-lensed and clunkier the better.Tim Burton - One Man Showby RodneyPike
Abstract ArtShare|ArchiveAbstract ArtBy techgnoticEmotions Abstract by zampedroniThe earliest known artworks of humans, found on cave walls dating back about 40,000 years, tell stories.Usually the stories are of amazing hunts for enormous wooly mammoths and other food sources. Others suppose they were plans for hunts, no different from a coach’s football plays.Today we are learning of abstract artworks on the cave walls, seemingly deliberately hidden, and much farther back, painted by medicine men huffing hallucinogenic herbs. The purpose for these totemic abstracts is unclear. While native art worldwide retained its
Collection: Blue HarvestShare|ArchiveBlue HarvestThe Harvest time of year represents the last heroic exertion of labor to gather in for storage the bounty of crops to sustain life through the approaching Autumn and Winter. The health and relative comfort of an entire village or settlement, or a single remote homestead, through the cold and barren months, depends on a successful harvest. A blighted harvest means fear and prayers that the winter will be mild and of short duration, that the limited food might provide enough sustenance. In modern society, the Harvest has come to represent receiving just and due reward for any endeavor one has worked long and hard to make a success. But this gallery of
